Job Summary

As a Manager in CBS-C&L, you will have the opportunity to assist our West Africa Firm (Nigeria & Ghana) on complex contracting and commercial negotiations, provide internal legal advice, and support the review and drafting of contracts while primarily providing support to the engagement teams. The focus of the role will be on the advisory services of Deloitte with an emphasis on contractual support and contract management.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with the Member Firm Contracting Leader, the CBS-C&L team, and other professionals within Africa to ensure consistent legal standards and best practices across the region
  • Collaborate with engagement teams across Deloitte Africa to support day-to-day contracting on projects, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and local regulations in Nigeria and Ghana
  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation strategies for complex commercial contracts to protect organizational interests and minimize legal exposure
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, internal teams, and external partners to facilitate smooth contract negotiations and execution
  • Mentor and develop junior legal professionals and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence within the contracting and legal function
  • Maintain comprehensive contract documentation, templates, and knowledge repositories to support organizational efficiency and institutional knowledge management
  • Monitor contract performance and compliance metrics, providing regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership on contracting trends and legal matters
  • Grow as a legal professional by gaining experience in areas of advisory, outsourcing, technology, software and systems integration, resourcing, and collaboration across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in law with a minimum of Second Class Lower/Lower Credit division
  • Have a minimum of credit in five WASSCE/GCE/NECO Ordinary Level subjects or acceptable equivalent examination, including Mathematics and English Language in one sitting only
  • Nigerian qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years post-call experience in corporate and commercial law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to contribute to internal initiatives, including knowledge management and workflow improvement
  • Self-motivated with a desire to work both independently and in a collegial team environment
  • Demonstrates willingness to accept challenges and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with competing client demands.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to handle a broad array of matters, with a demonstrated focus on quality and risk
  • Support, draft and negotiate amongst others - client and business partner engagements, including master services agreements, statements of work, service level agreements, alliance agreements, professional services agreements and requests for proposals
  • Engaging with legal teams and external lawyers
  • Provide advice on legal risks associated with engagements and offer creative solutions to mitigate risks
