Job Summary
About Obek Group
Obek Group of Companies Limited is an EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning) enterprise headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, operating across the Oil & Gas, Power, Chemicals, Commercial/Industrial Real Estate, and Fertilizer sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Obek Group is at an exciting inflection point. We are building our team from the ground up, and this role is one of the most critical hires we will make.
The Role
As our first Enterprise Platform Architect, you will be the founding lead of the Digital & Innovation Micro-Enterprise — responsible for building the technology foundation that the entire Obek Group runs on.
You will design, procure, deploy, and operate the full technology stack for Obek Group — from enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HRMS, DMS) to the group’s proprietary internal marketplace platform, which will connect Obek’s micro-enterprises and enable them to transact seamlessly. You will then grow, lead, and develop the team that sustains and scales everything you build.
This is a hands-on, leadership role in equal measure. In the early months, you will be the architect, developer, and systems administrator. As the business grows, you will evolve into a people leader — hiring, mentoring, and managing a multi-disciplinary digital team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build & Lead the Digital & Innovation ME
* Serve as the founding ME Lead: own the Digital & Innovation Micro-Enterprise’s P&L, strategy, and team from Day 1.
* Recruit, onboard, and develop a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, developers, and IT specialists over Year 1–2.
* Establish and embed accountability culture within the ME: autonomous decision-making, user-value focus, and performance-sharing.
* Define and manage the ME’s service charter with internal clients (other MEs) and, in time, external clients.
2. Design & Deploy the Enterprise Technology Stack
* Architect the end-to-end digital infrastructure for Obek Group, aligned to the phased technology roadmap (Day 1 through Year 1).
* Lead implementation of core enterprise systems: ERP (Odoo/SAP Business One), CRM (HubSpot), HRMS (BambooHR), Document Management (SharePoint + Aconex), Help Desk (Freshdesk), and Microsoft 365.
* Design and configure cloud-first, API-integrated architecture on AWS, ensuring all systems communicate through a unified data layer.
* Manage IT procurement: evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure value-for-money on all technology investments.
* Own cybersecurity posture, backup protocols, and disaster recovery planning across all deployed systems.
3. Build the Obek Internal Marketplace Platform
* Lead the design, development, and launch of the Obek Group internal marketplace — a platform enabling the group’s micro-enterprises to list services, transact, and collaborate.
* Define the marketplace’s product requirements in close collaboration with the MD/CEO and ME Leads; architect a scalable, extensible solution.
* Oversee development (in-house team and/or vetted contractors), testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement of the platform.
* Integrate payment processing (Flutterwave for NGN, Stripe for USD/international transactions) into the marketplace and broader financial systems.
4. Hardware, Infrastructure & Operations
* Specify, procure, and commission all IT hardware required at the Obek Group office and project sites.
* Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, workstations, and field IT equipment.
* Operate and maintain all deployed systems to agreed uptime SLAs, acting as the 24/7 escalation point in the early-stage period.
* Develop and enforce IT policies, access controls, naming conventions, and document management protocols across the organisation.
5. Training & Knowledge Transfer
* Develop and deliver hands-on training programmes for all Obek Group staff on deployed systems (Microsoft 365, ERP, CRM, HRMS, Help Desk).
* Create user documentation, video guides, and self-service resources to build digital self-sufficiency across all MEs.
* Coach ME Leads on how to leverage technology for better project delivery, reporting, and client value creation.
* Champion a ‘digital-first’ culture across the group — paper is the exception, not the norm.
Qualifications & Experience
_*Essential*_
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage.
* Minimum of 8 years’ hands-on experience in enterprise technology, software architecture, or IT systems management.
* Proven track record of implementing and managing enterprise systems at scale (ERP, CRM, HRMS, DMS — at least two of these in a production environment).
* Strong full-stack or systems development capability: you must be able to design, code, and deliver software, not just manage others who do.
* Experience designing and deploying cloud-hosted architectures (AWS preferred) with API-first integration patterns.
* Demonstrated experience leading and growing a technical team — hiring, developing, and managing engineers or IT professionals.
* Exposure to marketplace or platform product development (internal or customer-facing).
* Strong project management discipline: ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.
Highly Desirable
* Experience in the EPCIC, Oil & Gas, Engineering, or Industrial sector — understanding of project-based business models is a significant advantage.
* Familiarity with Odoo ERP or SAP Business One implementation and configuration.
* Experience integrating payment platforms (Flutterwave, Stripe, or equivalent) into business systems.
* Knowledge of engineering software ecosystems (AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Primavera P6, ETAP, or similar) is an advantage.
* Prior exposure to BIM, digital twin, or AI-integrated construction/engineering tools.
* Understanding of Nigerian regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to IT and data (NDPR, FIRS digital filing requirements, etc.).
* Familiarity with entrepreneurial operating model frameworks.
*Competencies We Are Looking For*
Beyond technical qualifications, we will assess you on the following:
* _*Entrepreneurial Ownership:*_ You take full accountability for outcomes. You don’t wait for direction — you identify problems and solve them.
* _*Technical Depth & Breadth:*_ You can go deep on architecture and code, and also credibly oversee hardware, infrastructure, and training.
* _*Builder’s Mindset:*_ You are energised by building from scratch: teams, systems, and products — not just maintaining what exists.
* _*User-Centricity:*_ You design for the people who will use your systems. You solicit feedback, iterate, and never ‘build it and leave’.
* _*Communication & Influence:*_ You can explain complex technical decisions to non-technical business leaders clearly and compellingly.
* _*Resilience & Adaptability:*_ Early-stage businesses are fast and unpredictable. You thrive in this environment.
Why Join Obek Group?
This is not a job where you manage a roadmap that someone else owns. This is a founding-team-calibre opportunity with an employment contract. Here is what makes it different:
*_Build from zero_ .* You will be the first person in this function — which means you own the architecture decisions that will shape the company for the next decade.
_*Real ownership*_ . Our micro-enterprise model gives you genuine P&L ownership and autonomous decision authority over your ME, from Day 1.
_*Significant scale ahead*_ . Obek Group is on an ambitious growth trajectory, targeting multi-sector dominance across EPCIC industries, expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa markets, and strong revenue growth over the next 3 – 5 years. You will grow with the business.
_*Mission-driven work*_ . You will be exposed to some of the most complex and high-stakes infrastructure projects in the continent — oil & gas, power, fertilizer, and industrial real estate.
_*Competitive & aligned remuneration*_ . Compensation is grade-banded (Band D — ME Principal) with a performance-sharing component linked directly to ME and Group P&L outcomes.
_*Investment in you*_ . Talent development, L&D budget, and a culture of entrepreneurial ownership are non-negotiable commitments, not aspirations.

Please send your CV and a brief cover note (no more than one page) outlining the most relevant system or platform you have built, and what you would do in your first 30 days in this role, to:
