ABOUT APMDC

Associate Port & Marine Development Company Limited (APMDC) is a leading freight, logistics, and supply chain solutions company operating across Nigeria's key trade corridors — including Port, Airport, and Bonded Warehouse operations. We are driven by a culture of operational excellence, regulatory integrity, and client-first service delivery. At APMDC, we do not just move cargo — we move businesses forward.

We are growing, and we are looking for exceptional talent to grow with us.

## THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented **Assistant Manager, Clearing & Forwarding** to join our operations team in Lagos. This is a mid-level leadership role at the heart of our business — ideal for a seasoned clearing and forwarding professional ready to take the next step in their career within a structured, reputable, and fast-growing organization.

If you understand Nigeria's customs landscape inside out, thrive in a high-paced logistics environment, and know how to lead a team while keeping clients satisfied, we want to hear from you.

## WHAT YOU WILL DO

As Assistant Manager, you will be a key operational leader within APMDC's Clearing & Forwarding division. Your responsibilities will include:

- **Leading day-to-day operations** across customs documentation, tariff classification, and duty payment processing — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and speed at every step.
- **Serving as APMDC's primary liaison** with the Nigeria Customs Service, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and relevant government agencies to facilitate seamless, timely cargo release.
- **Mentoring and managing** junior operational staff within the Clearing & Forwarding unit, building team capacity and maintaining high performance standards.
- **Overseeing shipment schedules and bonded warehouse transfers**, providing clients with full end-to-end cargo visibility and proactive communication at every milestone.
- **Ensuring full regulatory compliance** with all applicable trade regulations, current import/export legislation, with zero tolerance for deviation.
- **Preparing and presenting operational reports** to senior management, contributing data-driven insights to strategic decision-making.

## WHO YOU ARE

You bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership presence, and professional integrity. Specifically, you meet the following:

**Education**
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.

**Experience**
- Minimum of **4 to 5 years** of hands-on, demonstrable experience in clearing and forwarding operations within a reputable freight or logistics company.
- Strong, working knowledge of **Nigeria Customs Service procedures**, Harmonized System (HS) Codes, and import/export documentation requirements.
- Proven track record managing client relationships, regulatory interfaces, and operational teams simultaneously.

Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills — you lead by example and bring your team along.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities — you can hold a room with NCS officials and C-suite clients alike.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Proficiency in freight and logistics management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

**Certifications (Advantageous)**
- Membership or certification from **CILT** (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), or an equivalent professional body, will give your application a significant edge.
